Opportunities in Crystal Bay and the Surrounding Area
Enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, water skiing and more on Hidden Lake most of the year. Many enjoy social activities in the neighborhood including the Book Club, Happy Hours at the Pavilion in the summer, Spring Picnic and Fall Chili Cookoff. Kayak Paddlers meet often in the summer for adventures around the coves of Hidden Lake. The Association also hosts a Christmas holiday dinner in December at one of the nearby restaurants.
 
Theater/Arts
Greenwood has a variety of local performing arts and choir groups including concerts/shows at Lander Performing Arts Building on the Lander University Campus, the Greenwood Community Theater performs throughout the year with local actors of all ages. You can also find entertainment at the Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC; the historical Abbeville Opera House in Abbeville, SC. The Newberry Opera House brings in various band groups and performers. In Greenville, the Peace Center and Bon Secours Wellness Arena offer large venue attractions and shows.
 
Community Festivals
Greenwood is host for the annual Festival of Flowers featuring beautiful topiary figures and community activities for most of the month of June. In July, the Discovery BBQ Festival is center stage for famous Kansas City BBQ competitors and local competitors. There is lots of smokin’ good BBQ, ribs and entertainment for a hot weekend festivity.
 
Laurens, SC hosts Squealin’ on the Square in the fall at the Courthouse Square featuring Kansas City BBQ, arts and crafts, kid’s rides, petting zoo, and local entertainment. Newberry, SC has a fall Oktoberfest, an authentic German cuisine with festivities for the whole family.
 
Golf
This list includes some of the favorite golf courses in the area, including Greenwood Golf Club, The Links at Stoney Pointe, Hunters Creek, The Patriot at Grand Harbor and Star Fort Golf Club in Ninety Six. Greenwood County Club and Par Three West and Cokesbury hills all host a good day on the greens.
 
Education
Lander University, Piedmont Technical College, Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC and Erskine College in Due West, SC. Greenwood has public high schools and the G. Frank Russell Career Center and a private Christian High School.
